Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority have restored the Dales Way footpath from Birks Mill to the A683 back to normal [almost] by fencing off the slumped field edge as well as the field, and erecting two stiles to enable walkers to rejoin the A683 in the normal place. Well done the YDNPA Team

The Dales Way Association had a committee meeting on January 14th 2016. Whilst discussing the December floods, it was agreed that the most serious incident was the closure of the foot bridge over the river Sprint leading into and out of Sprint Mill cottage into Burneside, 1 kilometer away. Our original advice was to revert to the old Dales Way footpath i.e. crossing the road bridge over the river Sprint 150 meters downstream. Within days this was also closed to vehicles and pedestrians due to structural damage.
CCC have issued this recent picture of the Sprint Mill footbridge to illustrate the serious nature of the damage to justify their reason to close the footbridge, which we accept.
